Job Title: Gas Station Cashier

Location: Roy's General Store

Job Type: Full-Time / Part-Time

Job Summary:

We are seeking a reliable and friendly cashier to join our team at Roy's General Store. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, handling transactions efficiently, and maintaining a clean and safe environment at the gas station.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service:

• Greet customers as they enter the store.
• Answer customer inquiries about products, services, and policies.
• Handle customer complaints or issues with professionalism.

Financial Transactions:

• Operate a cash register with accuracy, handling cash, credit, and debit transactions.
• Count money in cash drawers at the beginning and end of shifts to ensure amounts are correct and that there is adequate change.
• Issue receipts, refunds, change, or tickets.

Merchandise Handling:

• Stock shelves, rotate stock, and ensure products are displayed appropriately.
• Conduct inventory or assist in inventory counts as required.

Station Maintenance:

• Maintain cleanliness of the store, including sweeping, mopping, cleaning shelves, and windows.
• Ensure the forecourt (pumps area) is clean and free of litter or hazards.

Safety and Security:

• Monitor the premises for security risks or thefts and act accordingly.
• Follow all safety procedures, including emergency protocols.

Fuel Sales:

• Authorize fuel pumps for customer use.
• Sometimes assist customers with fueling issues or explain how to use the pumps.

Qualifications

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.

Experience:

• Previous experience as a cashier or in a customer service role is advantageous but not necessary.

Skills:

• Basic math skills for counting money and making change.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks like lifting.

Characteristics:

• Reliability and punctuality.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Other:

• Must be able to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to handle transactions with honesty and integrity.
