Job Description
The Department of Physics at Carnegie Mellon University is seeking a Visiting Researcher for a Full Time Temporary 2-month position in Theoretical Biophysics for the Banerjee Laboratory starting February 2020. The research project will focus on the development of theory and computational models for understanding the mechanisms of bacterial growth and antibiotic response. The researcher will develop predictive computational models of bacterial growth and division cycle when treated with antibiotics using advanced statistical physics, systems biology and data-driven modelling. The project will be performed in close collaboration with an interdisciplinary team of experimental and theoretical scientists.
Applicants must have a Bacherlor?s or Master?s degree in physics/mathematics/chemistry/data science or a related field of experience.
Strong background in mathematical modelling. Experience with modelling biological systems is a plus.
Strong record of previous research.
Proficiency with statistical physics, systems biology and microbiology.
Strong programming skills, expertise in numerical methods and data analysis are required.
Ideal candidate must have background in modelling biophysical systems, non-equilibrium dynamics and experience in collaborating with experimental labs.
Excellent written and verbal skills.
