Position Summary:
We are seeking a Traffic Engineering Section Lead to drive strategic growth and technical leadership for our traffic practice in South Carolina. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic professional to oversee regional traffic operations, develop new market opportunities, and manage complex transportation projects in collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead business development activities, including client engagement and proposal preparation
Manage and design traffic engineering projects including signal design, signing/pavement markings, MOT, lighting, crash analysis, and studies
Coordinate with clients, contractors, sub consultants, government agencies, and stakeholders
Provide mentorship and supervision to staff engineers and planners
Develop and implement strategic growth plans in coordination with senior leadership
Oversee project budgets, resource allocation, and hiring decisions
Conduct staff performance evaluations and maintain quality standards
Must-Have Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) from an ABET-accredited program
Minimum 10 years of experience in traffic engineering design, planning, and analysis
Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in South Carolina
Familiarity with SCDOT policies, standards, and practices
Experience working with SCDOT on traffic projects
Proficiency in traffic simulation/analysis software (e.g., Synchro, VISSIM, HCS)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Nice-to-Have Qualifications:
Certified Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE)
