Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Director of OSP is responsible for the success of their assigned project(s). The Senior Director of OSP will have overriding responsibility for the success of several projects and project teams. They will oversee several Project Directors who have responsibility for the project budget, meeting project timelines, customer expectations, managing the project team, and interfacing with the customer. We will look to the Senior Director of OSP Construction to resolve significant projects issues, delays in approvals, authorities and other obstacles that hinder progress on their assigned locations. The job is to train, develop and oversee Project Directors who are responsible for large construction projects.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS MAY INCLUDE:

  • Review and fully understand the budgets, schedule and requirements of each project.
  • Work with the Project Director to create and execute project work plans, schedules, and control budgets as well as identify and acquire resources needed for prosecution of the project(s).
  • Oversee the management of operational aspects of a project to ensure on time and under budget project completion.
  • Review and present reports from the project team(s) and summarize the markets in his jurisdiction in combined state of the projects' reports for executive management.
  • Participate and/or provide oversight and approval for decisions on the scope and delivery of the project including serving as a technical expert in interpreting the specifications of the project.
  • Communicate requirements and specifications to the Project Director and project staff, when necessary and desired, and assist with any questions related to the technology, equipment, and design requirements.
  • Assist the Project Director with periodic meetings and presentations when necessary and act as an escalation point for difficult issues with internal and external customers.
  • Review and approve all market agreements, permit and authorization compliance and others, as applicable.
  • Provide clear, consistent, and thorough direction to the Project Director(s) and assure they are effectively managing and nurturing their teams.
  • Mentor the Project Director and their staff, as necessary, to deliver consistent performance per the company's goals. Create an environment so all project staff understand their responsibilities and the processes to produce the desired results, generating teams that can move, develop and grow into similar and advanced positions as company markets expand.
  • Review and approve job cost accounting reports submitted to home office.
  • Maintain day-to-day communication with the SVP/VP of Outside Plant and other management.
  • Produce quality results in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
  • Represent Metronet professionally to satisfy immediate customer needs and to foster good customer relations.
  • Respond clearly and effectively to spoken requests over the phone or in person, and to verbal or written instructions.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with project teams and the general public.
  • Maintain regular, consistent and professional attendance, punctuality, and personal appearance according to company policies.
  • Pursue personal development of skills and knowledge necessary for the effective performance of the role and those of the project team.
  • Adhere to company policies, regulations, procedures, and principles.
  • Assist in other duties as needed and directed.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • BS/BA degree in construction management, electrical engineering, or civil engineering preferred
  • Equivalent experience will be considered
  • Strong knowledge of Telecom construction and engineering, project budget creation and management, project scheduling and tracking, project finance, cost reporting, and field office operations
  • Strong computer skills, with emphasis using Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Project
  • Familiarity with a variety of mapping, GIS and CADD drafting programs
  • Ability to Work with Google Earth KMZ's and KML's
  • Ability and comfort putting together project estimates, budgets and schedules
  • Ability to comprehend complex instructions put together and execute strategic strategies communicating and promoting company objectives with other organizations.
