Shift: Rotating
Position Summary Perform repair, maintenance, and installation of all piping systems to include cooling/heating lines & related components as well as steam lines and related equipment. Maintain compliance with national and state plumbing codes and accrediting agencies such as TJC, NFPA, and administration guidelines. Ensure a safe and uninterrupted service to patients and all staff members. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. No patient care assignment.
Detailed Responsibilities - PLUMBING - Inspect, install, repair, and maintain all pipes to include cooling/heating lines & related components as well as steam lines and related equipment
- PLUMBING - Repairs any malfunction or discrepancy to supervisor
- PLUMBING - Perform welding, brazing, and cutting
- PLUMBING - Install new piping to include cooling/heating lines & related heating lines & related components as well as steam lines and related equipment or plumbing related equipment as needed or scheduled
- PLUMBING - Repair or replace plumbing related equipment or piping to include cooling/heating lines & related components as well as steam lines and related equipment as needed or scheduled
- PLUMBING - Maintain all waste and vent lines in compliance to national and state plumbing codes and governing agencies such as TJC and NFPA
- RECORDS - Maintain all compliance records
- MAINTENANCE - Report any repairs or maintenance needed throughout the building or grounds dealing with area of specialization or outside area of specialization
- TOOLS - Responsible for all hospital owned tools; ensure tools are in safe operating condition; report any unsafe tools needing repair to the supervisor
- ENVIRONMENT - Maintain and clean tools and shop area; maintain shop area in operational condition
- MAINTENANCE - Assist other maintenance departments as required by supervisor
- TRAINING - Participate in cross-training programs that will help carry out duties throughout the department
- REPORTING - Keep supervisor informed of his/her location at all times
Qualifications Related Education and Experience may be substituted for one another on a year for year basis. Education Essential:
- High School or GED Equivalent
Experience Essential:
3 years directly related experience
Nonessential No preferred experience
Credentials Essential:
- Med Gas Certificate within 1 year of employment
- Journeyman Plumber License in New Mexico
- Valid New Mexico Driver's License
- UNM Vehicle Operator's Permit w/in 60 days
Physical Conditions Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Essential Working conditions:
- Med Haz: Mod exposure to chemicals/dangerous equip/materials
- Subject to random alcohol and substance testing
- May be required or is required to perform on-call duties
- Tuberculosis testing is completed upon hire and additionally as required
