The Senior Family Wealth Strategist is a thought leader in wealth strategy, possessing deep technical expertise and a nuanced understanding of the complex needs of ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) clients. Such a candidate may be located nationwide, with the potential for hybrid or remote work arrangements.

The Strategic and Legacy Planning department offers comprehensive guidance and education on estate, tax, philanthropic, and multigenerational planning to ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) families, business owners, and entrepreneurs. The team works across multiple offices to help preserve and transfer wealth, plan for the care of their estates and themselves in the event of incapacity, and facilitate family meetings.

The ideal candidate must be able to understand, articulate, and diagram a complex UHNW client’s estate plan, provide bespoke solutions tailored to the unique needs of UHNW clients, including recommendations to simplify or improve a client’s estate plan, identify tax-efficient wealth transfer opportunities, and facilitate family meetings.

The candidate must possess at least 10 years’ experience in trust and estate planning or administration and in-depth technical expertise in multiple areas, including, but not limited to, estate planning, tax optimization, philanthropy, multigenerational wealth transfer, retirement planning, business succession, and insurance planning. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

· Ownership of the wealth planning for UHNW clients with a net worth of at least $ 30 M. Lead client engagements in collaboration with wealth advisors, legal professionals, and accountants.

· Assessment of clients' financial, legal, and family documents to identify planning opportunities, interpret the planning documents, as well as analyze and model scenarios involving trusts, family partnerships, private foundations, and charitable vehicles. Present strategies to clients with clarity, discretion, and confidence, maintaining the highest standards of client service.

  • Guidance to advisory teams and clients as to family meetings, serving as a trusted advisor in multigenerational family governance, educating and advising heirs.
  • Identification of solutions and services as sales opportunities.
  • Research of specific topics, legislation, or other planning matters.
  • Develop content, thought leadership, and educational materials for both clients and advisors.
  • Participation in both department and firmwide trust and estate planning initiatives.
  • Continued education of developments in tax law, estate planning strategies, and wealth transfer vehicles.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

· J.D. required. Advanced degrees (LL.M. in Taxation) and additional designations (CTFA, CPA, CFP, etc.) preferred.

· Minimum of 10+ years of experience in tax, estate, and wealth planning with UHNW clients working in estate planning or trust and estate administration with significant exposure to UHNW clients ($ 30 M+ net worth) required.

· At least one year of legal experience in a law firm is required.

· In-depth knowledge of U.S. estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax laws. Proven ability to develop and implement complex planning strategies with a client-first approach.

· Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey sophisticated ideas.

· High degree of integrity, discretion, and professional judgment.

· Highly organized and able to excel in a fast-paced environment.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, etc.) required.
