Job Title: Nurse Practitioner - Flight Medicine

Location: 88th Medical Group, Wright-Patterson AFB, Dayton, Ohio 45433

Tentative Start Date: 22 February 2026

Work Schedule : Monday Friday, 0715 1615 (8-hour shift with 60-minute unpaid lunch); 40 hours/week

Qualifications:

• Education: Master's degree in nursing. Graduate from an academic program, within the nursing specialty field of study that is accredited by a regional or national nursing accrediting agency recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
  
  
  
  Experience:

• Experience in Flight Medicine, Aerospace Medicine, Occupational Medicine, or Operational Medicine.

• Experience supporting active-duty, aviation, or military populations.

• Familiarity with medical readiness evaluations, physical, and duty-related health assessments.

• Experience working in a military treatment facility (MTF) or federal healthcare environment.
  
  
  
  License / Certification:

• Current, full, active, and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in any U.S. state or territory.

• Certified in the specialty as a Nurse Practitioner by ANCC or AANP or Other nationally recognized certifying body appropriate to the specialty

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or Red Cross) required

• National Provider Identifier (NPI) required.

• DEA registration required.

• Other Requirements: U.S. Citizenship required.

Responsibilities:

• Provide a full range of outcome-based nurse practitioner services in support of Flight Medicine and Operational Medical Readiness, in accordance with privileges granted by the Military Treatment Facility (MTF).

• Conduct comprehensive medical evaluations, screenings, and examinations for routine, acute, and chronic conditions affecting aviators and operational personnel.

• Diagnose, treat, and manage common acute illnesses, chronic medical conditions, and minor injuries within established clinical practice guidelines, Nurse Practice Acts, and Air Force policies.

• Perform occupational and preventive health services, including physical, immunizations, health risk assessments, and medical readiness evaluations.

• Promote health maintenance, disease prevention, and mission readiness through patient education, counseling, and evidence-based practice.

• Collaborate and communicate effectively with physicians, flight surgeons, nurses, medical technicians, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.

• Participate in staff meetings, case discussions, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing education activities.

• Ensure compliance with infection control standards, patient safety protocols, and universal precautions.

• Maintain accurate, timely, and complete medical documentation in Government electronic health record systems.
