Job Description



Winston Steel is adding to our staff and seeks a dynamic Detailer. The focus of Winston Steel is the fabrication and installation of stairs and railings for the commercial industry. This position is hands-on, fast-paced, and will provide challenges and learning opportunities every single day.

Job Description



In this role, you will be responsible for creating detailed shop drawings and fabrication documents for various steel structures and miscellaneous metal components.

  • Prepare detailed shop drawings and fabrication documents for miscellaneous steel components
  • Create accurate 3D models and 2D drawings using industry-standard software
  • Review and interpret architectural and structural drawings
  • Develop material lists and bills of materials for fabrication
  • Ensure compliance with AISC standards and project specifications
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and fabricators
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and material calculations
  • Verify field dimensions and existing conditions when required
  • Maintain accurate documentation and revision control
  • Troubleshoot design conflicts and provide solutions

Qualifications

  • Tekla software proficiency
  • 3-5 years of experience in steel detailing, specifically with miscellaneous metals
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and 3D modeling software
  • Strong understanding of steel fabrication processes and construction methods
  • Excellent blueprint reading and interpretation skills
  • Knowledge of welding symbols and specifications
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with team members
  • Willingness to perform occasional site visits as needed
