Lighthouse Lab Services has partnered with the premier health system in northern Virginia. We are looking for a talented Medical Laboratory Scientist with a generalist background  to join our client's team to be a part of their growing Point of Care Testing team .

The Medical Technologist, Point of Care (POCT MT) is responsible for maintaining devices and tests that are capable of performing laboratory quality tests at the patients’ bedside, as well as the user management for those who use the POCT devices.

• Pay $29.40-$44.10/hr Depending on Experience

Responsibilities and Duties

• Provides device users with troubleshooting support for problems with the POCT devices and tests.
• Accurately performs waived and non-waived tests according to regulations and policy.
• Performs daily hospital rounds and data review, to include review of POCT test results, competency reviews and Quality improvement tasks.
• Works with other POCT technologists and POC device users to complete required tasks. Performs training and competency assessments for POCT device users.
• Performs required maintenance and troubleshooting forPOCT devices and tests. Assists with managing inventory and rotate current supplies. Maintains accurate records of department record logs.
• Ensures diagnostic testing applies The Joint Commission patient safety practices in all aspects of patient care.
• Ensures established safety procedures are being followed according to the OSHA regulations for blood borne pathogens and consistent use of personal protective equipment provided by the lab.

Preferred Candidate Profile

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Physical, Biological, or Clinical Laboratory/Medical Technology Science required
  
• Experience working with teams and staff preferred
• Previous experience in healthcare organization preferred
• Certification through American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel (NCA),
• American Medical Technologists (AMT), or US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) (formerly HEW), proficiency testing, required.
