Job Description

Established chiropractic practice in downtown Laguna Beach has an opening for a dynamic Licensed Massage Therapist who is passionate about helping people live more active and pain-free lives.

The perfect candidate is professional, reliable, and proficient in soft tissue manipulation, and is able to facilitate a safe and relaxing experience for our patients. The therapist should possess the ability to perceive client wishes and needs through spoken language, body language, and other cues in order to modify their treatments accordingly.

General tasks may include (but are not limited to):

  • Attend and participate in team huddle at the beginning of each shift
  • Follow massage treatment protocols as determined by Chiropractors
  • Evaluate clients to determine painful or stressed areas of the body
  • Guide clients through service offerings and determine which massage technique(s) would benefit them most
  • Recommend add-ons to patients who could benefit from CBD oil or cupping
  • Provide 50-minute therapeutic deep manual therapy massages to patients, by appointment
  • Listen intently to patients during their appointments and tailor technique to meet their needs
  • Recommend future massage sessions to clients to ensure your schedule stays consistently booked
  • Build positive therapist-patient relationships
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient records and ensure compliance with clinic protocols 
  • Protect client information and confidentiality according to HIPAA guidelines
  • Maintain professional and clean appearance of the treatment area
  • Effectively communicate with clients and staff

REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Interpersonal skills: A personable therapist is able to put patients at ease during their sessions as well as encourage patients to complete their prescribed treatment protocols. 
  • Communication skills: Excellent communication skills required to instruct patients at each visit and to provide education and relevant counsel regarding their care. Clear, concise communication is also necessary to effectively work with team members.
  • Listening skills: This role involves the evaluation and management of patients, hence it is important to possess active listening skills.
  • Computer skills: Complete SOAP notes in EHR software & navigate Google Office Applications (Sheets, Docs, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy, musculoskeletal conditions, and soft tissue techniques
  • Apt for learning: Be coachable and willing to learn on the job for career growth and continued education.

Duties and responsibilities may be added, removed, and/or changed at the discretion of management.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Valid State License for Massage Therapy (Required)
  • Experience in deep tissue, sports, and/or medical massage (Preferred)
  • Experience in cupping massage technique (Preferred)

POSITION TYPE Part-Time (14-18 hours per week), In-Office

SCHEDULE

Needed: Tuesdays/Thursdays 11:00am - 6:30pm (with 30 min lunch)

Optional: Every Other Saturday 8:00am - 12:00pm (no lunch included)

POSITION PAY $35-$45 per hour (negotiable based on experience)

*Note:  Massage therapists are paid per massage provided at the rate of $35-$45 per 50-minute massage rendered. Any hours in meetings, training, or non-patient treating hours (about 1-2 per week) will be paid at a base hourly rate.

Occasional travel to local events may be required.
