Laboratory Technician I

Location: Old Ocean, TX 77463

Job Type: Long-term Contract

Our client, a leading Oil & Gas Producer, is seeking a skilled Laboratory Technician I to join their refinery team at the Old Ocean / Sweeny facilities. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to critical refinery operations while ensuring quality, safety, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct and document quality assurance testing to ensure analytical results are accurate and reliable, following the Laboratory Quality Assurance program.
• Perform analyses in compliance with Refinery and Loss Control Programs, supporting safety goals and minimizing refinery losses.
• Learn and apply analytical standards, methods, and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance in all assigned tasks.
• Use technical knowledge and creative problem-solving to address challenges encountered during analyses.
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with engineers, operators, and maintenance personnel to ensure accurate results.
• Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills including teamwork, leadership, listening, and communication daily.
• Take ownership of tasks, ensuring quality, accuracy, and accountability.
• Promote safety and environmental responsibility for self and colleagues while performing high-quality work.
• Comply with Laboratory and company policies, standards, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
• Perform overtime work as required and follow work directions safely.

Basic/Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Comfortable working a 12-hour rotating shift schedule .
• Valid driver's license.
• Computer proficiency (MS Office).
• Legally authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis without restrictions.

Physical & Safety Requirements:

• Willingness and ability to work overtime as needed.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Comfortable working around chemicals, including acids and bases.
• Ability to wear fire-retardant clothing and personal protective equipment (PPE) such as steel-toed shoes, ear and eye protection.
• Ability to maintain a proper face for respirator/face mask seal (e.g., clean-shaven if required).
• Comfortable working outdoors in harsh weather conditions.
• Ability to work with petroleum products under high pressure and heat.
• Willingness to learn software used in process operations.
