Hydraulic Repair Technician
Triad Technologies
Vandalia, OH


Summary:  The primary functions of this position are: 1) repair hydraulic, pneumatic and lubrication components for machinery and equipment at Triad facility, 2) repair various crimpers, hydraulics, and mechanical and 3) Able to research component parts, quote and communicate with customers on daily basis. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:   The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Assessment of repair for quoting purposes
  • Read and comprehended hydraulic, pneumatic and lubrication schematics.
  • Observe all safety guidelines.  Recognize electrical disconnect(s) and verify power is off before working on any system per Triad safety guidelines.  Discharge system using manual unloading valve before commencing work.
  • Determine the general layout of circuit and install components accordingly.
  • Research parts needed for repair at hand.
  • Cost out repair and communicate quote with customer
  • Replace worn or damaged hydraulic components such as oil lines, fittings, cylinders, valves, gaskets and seals.
  • Disassemble hydraulic systems and remove or replace defective motors, pumps, valving and actuators, etc. once customer approved.
  • Test and visually inspect completed installations by examining all components, fluid lines and guarding.  Observe and listen to operating machinery to detect any malfunctions if applicable.
  • Read indicators such as pressure gauges, flow meters and temperature gauges to analyze system performance.
  • Must assure that at the end of each repair everything is tight and secure.
  • Determine if the repair is warranty and communicate that with customer
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: There are no supervisory responsibilities.

 

Qualifications

  • Education and/or Experience  – High school or GED; and one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Trade school and or some technical training preferred.
  • Reasoning Ability  – Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram and schedule form. .    
  • Mathematical Skills  – Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 
  • Language Skills  – Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations and to customers, and other employees in the organization.
  • Computer Skills - To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Lotus Notes. Plus Commerce Center software.
  • Enerpac Certification  required (will attend 1 week of repair classes in Columbus, WI.)

Other Qualifications:

 

Must be able to handle products (inventory) up to 100 pounds

Must get at least a 70% on the Mechanical aptitude test.

Must be able to read schematics and I.D. tags.

Must have the ability to recognize and avoid safety hazards in various environments.

Must have own power and pneumatic tools.

Must have a good driving record.

Must be able to travel overnight if needed.

Must be able to read hydraulic/pneumatic schematics, do tube bending, component rebuilding.

Must have prior experience in hydraulic troubleshooting, hose assembly and problem-solving abilities
