Job Description

Summary

The Department of Pathology & Immunology at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) is seeking an academically oriented, highly skilled, and motivated Hematopathologist/Surgical Pathologist with outstanding diagnostic expertise to join our team. The ideal candidate must have strong hematopathology and surgical pathology diagnostic skills and expertise and desire to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team. The candidate is expected to contribute to the educational, scholarly, and translational research activities of the department. The candidate should be eligible for appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank.

 

The role is primarily suited to BCM sites within the Texas Medical Center (the world's largest medical center) with a focus at Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center (BSLMC). Annually, our BCM pathology faculty in Texas generate diagnoses on over 170,000 surgical specimens that include a plethora of complex resections and biopsies. The successful candidate will be working closely with our solid organ transplant center and NCI designated Dan L Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center. Regular opportunities are available for teaching in the School of Medicine and the Graduate School.

 

The candidate will be responsible for signing out a variety of clinical pathology specimens. Given the educational mission, teaching residents and fellows is also required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • The candidate must be board eligible or board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology through the American Board of Pathology.
  • Subspecialty training and board certification or eligibility in Hematopathology is required.
  • Additional training or board certification or eligibility in Transfusion Medicine is desired but not required.
  • Candidates must also be eligible for an unrestricted Texas Medical License.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience is desired, but new specialty fellowship graduates are welcome.
