CAREER SERVICE POSITION
Specific Responsibilities:
The incumbent for this position is responsible for building community capacity that includes traditional public health organizations and non-traditional partners to improve health outcomes in Washington and Holmes Counties. This position requires travel for community outreach and is responsible for various health education and community health activities for DOH-Washington and Holmes County. This position is under the supervision of the Operations & MGMT Consultant. Furthermore, this position is expected to incorporate the agency values of Innovation, Collaboration, Accountability, Responsiveness and Excellence in all aspects of work. This position supports the Community Health Improvement Plan implementation efforts. The incumbent of this position designs, reviews, and analyzes activities and data with position supervisors to aid in planning, resource utilization and provision of services.
Community Engagement Specialist: Leads the development and execution of outreach strategies to expand the reach of public health programs and services. Establishes and strengthens partnerships with local organizations, businesses, schools, and faith-based groups to drive participation in health initiatives. Plans and delivers community events, health education workshops, and public information campaigns aligned with program objectives. Initiates and supports cross-sector collaborations with local partners to advance initiatives tied to the Bureau of Tobacco Free Florida and the Bureau of Chronic Disease. The position supports the completion of objectives outlines in the Community Health Improvement Plans of each county, including facilitation of workgroups. Provides technical assistance to enhance the capacity of community partners and evaluates engagement activities to inform continuous improvement and strategic planning.
Attends trainings as it relates to chronic diseases, and community health improvement. Works with internal teams and external organizations to implement community engagement activities.
Budget and Reports: Completes and maintains budget reports to ensure proper expenditure of state funds, prepares program reports and maintains all documentation as requested by state records retention guidelines.
Purchasing: Completes programmatic purchasing related in accordance with state purchasing guidelines. Includes obtaining quotes, purchasing, receiving, communicating with vendors.
