Nesco Resource is recruiting for a growing client in the Columbus OH marketplace. Our client is opening a new facility in the Columbus, OH area and looking to add a Cost Accountant to its team.
the role you will perform is as follows:
- Develop strategies to reduce costs and study product pricing to ensure the best possible return on investment for the company.
- Performance and productivity analysis.
- Analyze financial performance and contribute to business planning/ forecasts.
- Creation of KPIs for production areas enabling measurement, monitoring, and tracking of performance.
- Working closely with Supply Chain and Operations identifying action plans needed to control costs.
- IT familiarity and the ability to work independently where required.
- Investigate discrepancies in financial records and perform month-end close activities, including journal entries and reconciliations.
- Conduct regular audits, interpret rules related to accounting practices.
Your tasks
- Examine costs of production to determine the most efficient methods of production.
- Updating the standard costs of products and services based on the associated expenses.
- Predicts, plans, and records variable costs such as purchases of raw material, labor, and operation costs.
- Analyzing organizational data and assessing rates of labor, depreciation and overhead to recommend policy amendments that will improve numbers.
- Reviews, analyzes, and reports actual profit margins and analyze trends of highs and lows.
- Research material costs to ensure the accuracy of the information in the company's accounting system.
- Participate in physical inventory counts to ensure the accuracy of inventory records.
- Preparing monthly or quarterly reports for senior management.
- Reviewing and maintaining general ledger entries by evaluating records and files as well as reconciling accounts.

- Assist with internal and external audits.
- Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
Required skills and qualifications.
- A bachelor's degree
- 5 years of experience in an equivalent role.
- Proficiency in accounting software like QuickBooks or SAP
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Well-acquainted with GAAP and IFRS accounting principles
- Exceptional ability to think critically and make decisions based on data analysis.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills in discussing financial reports.
- Good project management skills
- Experience in job costings preferred.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills, with close attention to detail.
