DUTIES:
Estimate drag, lift and other aerodynamic deliverables. Evaluate automobile exterior with focus on aerodynamics. Pro-actively develop simulations for Motorsports. Clearly post process and interpret simulation results to identify current performance and develop areas of improvements. Integrate and balance requirements with front end cooling air flow and brake cooling using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) models. Interface and collaborate with Chevy Advanced Aero Group and Motorsports Teams in North Carolina. Present numerical and visual data and recommendations effectively, deep dive the flow field and be able understand and explain the physics behind the flow behavior. Expand our understanding of ground interactions, tire models and tire wakes. Conduct parametric studies. Daily use of several commercial CFD codes, 1D solvers and supporting software in Windows, LINUX/UNIX and HPC environment. These include ANSA, STAR-CCM+, EXA-POWERFLOW and other internal codes. 10% travel to client sites nationwide. Hybrid Work Policy – 3 days In-Office, 2 Days Remote – Must be able to report to local office.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, or related field of study. Ten (10) years of experience as a Technical Specialist , Senior Technology Specialist, Head of CFD, CFD Aerodynamicist, or related occupation. Must also have ten (10) years of experience in the following: Computer tools, 3D CAD files, CAE methods and Experimental Data; NASCAR or F1 motorsports; Project Management; Correlating CFD to wind tunnel results; CFD tools and methods development; Commercial CFD codes including N-S based codes Star CCM+ and OpenFOAM, and LB based codes including UltrafluidX and PowerFLOW; 1D solvers and supporting software in Windows, LINUX and UNIX and HPC environment; and Pre-processors including ANSA and Post-processors including Ensight and Paraview.
