Amazon Worker Organizer

Based in Kansas City, MO

Job Type: Full-Time

Purpose of Position
Missouri Workers Center is seeking a full-time Organizer to help build a movement of low-wage workers with the power to win better wages, safer working conditions, and racial and economic justice for all Missourians. A major focus of this work will be engaging workers at Amazon facilities in the Kansas City area. Organizers will receive extensive training and support from veteran labor organizers with decades of combined experience, and join a supportive team with a culture of excellence. No prior experience is required.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Build strong relationships with workers, transforming them into workplace and community activists.
  • Identify and develop worker-leaders and support them in creating worker-driven organizing committees.
  • Engage workers in collective action to win improvements in their workplaces and communities.
  • Conduct outreach at worksites, homes, and community spaces.
  • Work irregular hours (evenings, weekends) to meet workers on their schedules.
  • Incorporate feedback from supervisors and organizing team members.
  • Occasionally travel for training and campaign work.
  • Commit to building a multi-racial workers’ movement.

Education and Experience

  • No prior organizing experience required—extensive training provided.
  • Strong communication, writing, and basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work reliably, detail-oriented, and capable of following through on plans.
  • Commitment to listening deeply and helping workers develop leadership.
  • Experience working with people from diverse socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Must have a valid U.S. driver’s license, auto insurance, and access to a car for daily work.
  • Must have a cell phone capable of running work-related apps (stipend provided).
  • Multilingual candidates are strongly encouraged.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary: $55,000/year
