Job Description

Position Overview :
The admissions counselor works under the general direction of the Senior Director of Admissions and will manage a recruitment territory for Ferrum College. The admissions counselor will be responsible for the successful recruitment and enrollment of prospective students within their territory, including, but not limited to prospective student communication, attendance at college fairs, high school visits, and on and off campus recruiting events. The admissions counselor will also be responsible for general office duties as assigned.
Job Functions : 

• Territory communication management including, but not limited to phone calls, texting, email communication, birthday cards, personal notes and general student communication
• Attend college fairs, high school visits, and community events to promote the college and recruit students
• Build relationships with prospective students, parents, school counselors, and community organizations
• Collect, review, and evaluate admission applications, transcripts, and other required admission materials
• Collaborate with other offices on campus to ensure successful transition of enrolled students
• Create and maintain relationships with parents, students, guidance counselors, coaches, and other campus constituents
• Assist with the mentoring and training of new counselor hires
• Additional Responsibilities: The role may include other duties as assigned to support the overall operations and mission of the college. Flexibility and adaptability are essential, as responsibilities may evolve based on institutional needs .
• Work Autonomy: This position is classified as exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and requires the ability to perform duties independently, exercise sound judgment, and manage responsibilities with minimal supervision while meeting organizational goals and expectations
• Weekend and evening hours will be required. 
• Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications : 

• Bachelor’s degree required. 
• Valid driver’s license.
• Must be able to travel for this position. 
• Microsoft Office skills. 
• CRM experience preferred.
